RebelNet IRC History
RebelNet-NZ started life as Serve-Beer-Chat back in 2006 and has had several name changes since.
In about late 2007 RebelNet was created when a couple of fellas, SCM in New Zealand & MJP in America, whom both had their own IRC servers, decided to link then together thus creating the early stages of RebelNet. At its birth RebelNet was based around IRC chat but has since diversified into many areas including forums, games and more.
In the early days we were using Windows based servers but around early 2008 we decided to change over to dedicated Linux servers simply for the fact that Linux is much more reliable than Windows and provides many more options with a much higher level of security.
RebelNet-NZ, the New Zealand side of RebelNet, is privately owned, however there are plans to build a company some time in the future. RebelNet-NZ is a home based internet entity that continues to grow and develop new options and ideas for all users of the internet. RebelNet-NZ now offers not only just IRC but a range of services including image hosting, forums, ftp access, web site hosting, games and more. Recently we have been coding a game, RebelNet Rampage, an online text based browser game.
While RebelNet-NZ is privately owned, the US servers are owned by Pijl Ltd, a Nevada registered, Limited Liability Company, and a Missouri registered DBA.
While future plans include more games and internet radio, we wont stop there. New ideas are always just around the corner. We encourage you to come join us in chat, join to our fourms and games, be it to offer a service, to help or just to be a part of our growing community.
